This is completely anecdotal.
There was a time where I had a lot of people asking me to produce more content. That content was specifically in accordance to the type of content that fit the demographic of what I was at the time.
I, in 2020-2023, would not say that I was in the best place nor did I have anything specifically novel to say. And I, in my early 20s, heartbroken, un-therapized knowledge, knew this.
”You’d be a total mess online. So genuine. People will love it.” You could imagine that… even in my most non-clue of moments, didn’t feel excited to be presented that way. And I wanted to write a note that you should take your time. You only present yourself when you feel comfortable to do so and, espeicially if content isn’t your main source of income, no manager, investor, advisor, friend, significant other, force you to do that.
Now in 2025, turning twenty-six-years-old, I have never been in a more confident, knowledgable position in my life. I could have not been more excited that my Ray’s LES Saturday nights were not publicly documented — mostly because there is a hidden veil that can either open doors or close them when it comes to content.
“This is the youngest you’ll be. Nobody wants to hear anything from an older person.”
There’s an unspoken pressure to express yourself with fewer obligations, but also because there is this concept of an “easy sell” the younger you are. The issue is that unless you have a plan and know what you want to say. The odds of you being fed concepts, plans, suggestions content-wise is higher when you aren’t ready to present that way.
At twenty-six, I’ve never been more sure about what I can, should, shouldn’t, can, wouldn’t, have to, need to say. I also have zero obligation to say something that someone else wants for me to say.
As a viewer, if you are, which if you’re reading this blog — you might be. Keep this in mind. Intellectual insight from someone under twenty-five, specifically within startups, has far more hoops to go through than someone more seasoned.
As a creator — God, I can assure you that the closer to thirty… the easier this conversation gets. Also, if you are in your thirties, make content.
