Revisiting RSS
This should more accurately be called “Why on earth do we care so much about newsletters.”
The only issue is I cannot make an entire post about newsletters. I morally cannot do that.
I will, however, point out one very specific thing my friend and one of my favorite founders, Tyler Denk, pointed out to me at the West Hollywood Soho House over some afternoon margs.
People don’t really change their email.
And that’s all you really need to know about emails and why the hell 1) people 2) the startup industry 3) creators and 4) brands still give any single care for newsletters at all. People absolutely do not change their emails (unless it’s their work email and you’re like me where you think you’ll never leave a company ever, sign up for 400 things using that work email only to forget you actually needed that and your last day on the job you stare at the Google download-your-email button remembering the code of conduct you signed that specifically promised to not download your emails.)
I didn’t. But my point is - I wish I could have. Actually, I wish I could keep every single email I’ve ever gotten: high school, middle school, internships, exploitative internships. etc.)
