This is completely anecdotal.
It’s because the GP didn’t have “conviction” to go to bat for you over another person in their portfolio for you. The personal connection wasn’t there. I think that there are metrics that GPs set without the intention of discrimination. The idea that anyone has to face societal difficulty to hit anything in a business is a concept most investors aren’t used to.
This is especially true in the Consumer VC practice.
